I graduated in November 2020 and have been on the COVID-19 testing frontline ever since. Several of my fellow LTT graduates are working with me and some are at other sites all over Sydney.

It’s long hours, hard work and rewarding most of the time. I have had to train others and even recruited my hubby as admin for a few sites.

I am currently working under KE Select but soon our site at Castle Hill will be under new management so will become Australian Clinical Labs.

Kathie and Vaishali were my Trainers and Jen was there too. I learnt so much from LTT and I will never forget how helpful Kathie was. Her explanation of treating all patients as if they were infectious has always been in the back of my mind when donning and doffing. Even though I wished for venepuncture, I have stepped into the COVID-19 swabbing team and am an absolute asset to my company. I will always be thankful for Kathie and Vaishali. My life has changed so much since achieving my Certificate III in Pathology Collection at LTT Sydney.

I applied, went through the pre-enrolment interview and LLN, and then received an email informing me I was accepted! It was made even better that I didn’t need to pay due to the current government subsidies. The length of the course suited me, the face-to-face training suited me, and I was thrilled to bits!

The Certificate III in Pathology Collection course had great elective subjects. I especially enjoyed the Recognise healthy body systems unit. Of course, my favourite topic was the venepuncture, not just the blood collection but also the reasons behind each tube and how to process them after collection. I found all the staff at LTT very professional and easy to communicate with. I felt that they were there to help with anything that I needed and truly wanted me to succeed.

Since the last week of the class I have been employed with KESelect as a casual working at various COVID-19 drive through clinics. The part of this job I enjoy the most is meeting the public. Providing each person with care and consideration has been easily achieved as I want to help and alleviate their fears. For the last 10 days I have been to four different locations across Sydney and met so many varied personalities and survived still smiling and positive. From Bondi, Rushcutter’s Bay, Fairfield and Castle Hill the experiences have not broken me, I have loved every minute of my interactions with the public and fellow staff members. I am so very grateful to my Trainer/Assessor, Vaishali and everyone at LTT Sydney for helping me develop the confidence to get back out there and be strong enough to navigate the workforce.

I was very blessed to have the most wonderful people in my class. Everyone was so caring, sincere, kind, helpful, understanding and respectful. I miss our classes and all the wonderful women and the loving caring atmosphere at LTT. We created a WhatsApp group and continue the supportive network while we move about the COVID-19 clinics meeting up at different locations. Their successes are celebrated by us all as opportunities for work come up.

I am hoping to continue the COVID-19 collection clinic work until I can complete the work placement component of my course, then I will receive my formal certificate. Then I will look for a part time position in a nearby collection centre. Once employed I am also thinking of further education to continue my pathology knowledge. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I am looking forward to more.

I completed a PhD in Chemical Sciences in India. I was working as a bioanalyst for a Pharmaceutical Company. Following a career break of 5 years, I felt I did not want to go back to lab-based research. I was rather interested in patient focused clinical research. Studying the Certificate III in Pathology Collection seemed like a perfect first step which has enabled me to learn patient care, cultural sensitivity and the healthcare system here in Australia.

Their staff will look after you and provide you with comprehensive training, the bonus part is that they make learning fun and keep you laughing, this makes for a much better experience!

Before enrolling at LTT in Brisbane I was a medic and a first aid trainer. I decided to enrol with LTT to study the Certificate III in Pathology Collection as they seemed like the friendliest option! My training experience was absolutely amazing. I was certainly nervous but ready to go by the time all my training was done. I liked every aspect of the course! I had a great group, a great trainer, and great memories.

I’m now working as a phlebotomist for Medlab whilst studying my Bachelor of Primary Education. I can’t wait to be a teacher, but I think I will always be in the medical field. I love this job and think I will always keep it!

I’m Lesley and I just turned 61. Before COVID-19 I was an interstate truck driver. In April 2020 I lost my job due to my employer losing a contract and work slowing down. Unfortunately I was laid off so I started a bit of temp driving. I started to get really sick of driving and being away from home all the time.

I saw information about the Certificate III in Pathology Collection at LTT Sydney while on the internet and sent through an enquiry. I asked about how much previous education I needed as I didn’t finish year 10 at high school. I decided to go for it and give it my best.

My Trainer/Assessor Vaishali Shah was fantastic and explained everything very well. I enjoyed every class and got to make a lot of new life time friends. My work placement is scheduled for 26 July and I’m looking forward to it. So while I have been waiting I applied for a position at a COVID-19 collection site and I started that very day! It didn’t take long to get into it and I’m really enjoying it. I have learnt a lot already. And thanks to my training and Trainer/Assessor, I’m keeping myself safe.

I want to work in pathology collection doing blood and other sample collections, I really enjoyed that part of my training. The course was fantastic and I’d recommend it to all my friends and family. It been a great experience for me to change my future and to do something I’m sure I’m going to love for life.

I have recently finished the Certificate III in Pathology Collection at LTT Perth and I would just like to let you know that I enjoyed the course immensely. Kelly was absolutely fantastic – she was so professional and thorough whilst at the same time managing to make the material fun and easy to understand. She made sure she answered all of our worries and questions on relevant topics before moving on. She empowered us to believe in ourselves and to think positively while we worked on perfecting our venepuncture skill and finally, managed to instil passion for a career in phlebotomy as she always spoke highly about this job. Amanda was also very nice and helpful in regards to work placement. Special mention to Mary who had an watchful eye over all of us and always there to help. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to start a career in phlebotomy.

I worked as a doctor back in Pakistan before I migrated to Australia. I gave my medical exams to the AMC, but I couldn’t secure a job. As I was really passionate about working in health care, someone suggested I study the Certificate III in Pathology Collection course.

I searched online and came across LTT Melbourne which was still offering the course during the COVID-19 pandemic. So I enrolled in this course! It was an amazing course throughout, with the medical background knowledge as well. My trainer Joseph Lenehan was really helpful throughout, he gave us some tips on how to apply for jobs. I have now gained employment as a Donor Services Nursing Assistant at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood even before my placement! It was really amazing journey throughout. I will highly recommend doing the course from LTT. The trainers and staff are really helpful.

I’m a 35 year old Mum and I was working as a childcare educator before enrolling at LTT Sydney. I heard good reviews about LTT from friends.

I enrolled in the Certificate III in Pathology Collection and Kathie Kenny was my trainer. She is one of the best trainers I’ve ever had. She was well informed with great experience and skills that she shared with us.

I enjoyed the entire course and my whole training experience. My favourite part of the course was the collection of blood and other specimens.

My work placement was fantastic, I had really friendly staff who encouraged me a lot throughout my placement.

My interview with Laverty Pathology went really well, they asked me questions about my skills and problem-solving abilities. Now that I have secured employment with Laverty, I want to continue improving my skills and knowledge about phlebotomy. I would like to learn about all the different tests and the departments in the laboratory. Maybe even more study in the future!

I attended university prior to commencing the Certificate III in Pathology Collection course at LTT Perth but I didn’t enjoy it. I heard about LTT by researching/looking on the internet.

I attended two information sessions a year apart and was impressed with the course outline and its professional attitude.

My overall training experience was awesome! Getting to know the trainers and the positive supporting environment. Practising bleeds on classmates prior to doing it on work placement was also great. I am currently enjoying my job. I would love to start in a GP practice.
