I recently completed my bachelors at UWA in biomedical science and majoring in pharmacology and accounting. I really enjoyed being in the lab and wanted to lean into a career that works in a laboratory. I heard really good things about LTT from previous students, so I decided to apply for Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques. I have found this course amazing! I’ve learnt so many new things since completing this course.
My favourite part has been learning the UV-Vis spectrophotometer, this knowledge has helped me get a job in a laboratory at ALS as a Senior Laboratory Assistant. This course was more than I expected, I have learnt so much in specific detail. It has provided me knowledge more than I have had from my uni degree. My trainer Sahar prepared us for job interviews and assisted with resumes, ensuring we have the best application. ”

I’ve been working full-time without any additional qualifications. LTT was introduced to me by my employer, who put me on a traineeship to complete my Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (specialising in construction materials testing). My favourite part of this course was meeting with my trainer Gavin and learning new things. Now that I have completed my cert IV, I wish to further my study and complete a diploma. Hopefully I will then move to a higher position.

Before enrolling at LTT I’ve worked FIFO and hospitality. I heard about LTT through a friend who just graduated and is now working as a FIFO lab technician. I was interested to find out more about the FIFO lab opportunities.
I chose LTT as their Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course is so much shorter, plus I kept seeing jobs on SEEK from laboratories looking for LTT graduates!
I’ve only done chemistry and maths at high school, but I found the course great! I actually love maths. The course was really interactive and Sahar is an amazing Trainer. Sahar goes above and beyond to make sure we’re learning lab skills that will make us employable. My favourite part of the course was titration.
I went for a job interview at SGS. By the end of the interview, they offered me the position! I’m excited to start as they will be providing more lab training.

I’m overseas veterinary graduate and a mother. I’ve previously worked casually as an educator. I heard about LTT through my friends and decided to enrol because the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was flexible.
My trainer Sanju provided great help throughout the course. The staff at LTT Brisbane provided good support to complete my study and I found the training really good. I really enjoyed the practical classes while studying. I’m now looking forward to finding a job in microbiology or food testing.
I really appreciate Sanju’s and Ben’s great support and encouragement to complete the course.”

Before enrolling at LTT Melbourne I was working as a production operator. I decided to study the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course to upgrade my skills and get job in same field. My training was a very good experience. I learned so many things from our trainer, Priya. Every topic was interesting. I hope to work in a food laboratory.

My background is quite varied, I have been a chef and a remedial massage therapist. However I’ve always been really interested in science and geology. I found LTT’s website after searching online. I didn’t want to do a 5-year chemistry degree at university, and noticed that LTT Perth’s Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was only 6 months.
I really enjoyed this course; it gave me everything I was looking for in terms of maths and a scientific point of view. Before enrolling in this course, I couldn’t do divisions. Since doing this course I have gone from basic maths to completing complex calculations in the lab. It was a bit scary for me at the beginning but Sahar, our trainer, and she was so helpful and patient.
I enjoyed the practical laboratory experience, especially getting confident working with mineral acids. We performed mineral analysis which I really loved.
Since finishing the course, I have had a few interviews with laboratories. I have just accepted a fire assay role with ALS!

came from Philippines with a business administration background. I graduated with a major in banking and payments but worked in a social work job. After moving to Australia, I was looking for a job that would allow me to have a balance between work and family as I have two young kids.
I have been contemplating this lab course at LTT Perth for a few years. Now my youngest is at kindy, I have had the time to commit to studying! It’s the right time for me.
I’ve always liked physics and I don’t mind maths. The Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was really good. There are bits that are hard, but with the help of the Trainers it’s not too bad. It was a fun experience for me. We had a smaller group which made it a great environment for learning. Working in a laboratory was new for me, the practicals were actually fun and there was nothing to be afraid of.
I’ve now got a job at ALS Geochemistry in Malaga as Senior Laboratory Assistant for carbon/sulphur analysis and chromatography. I actually started the job 3 days before our graduation day. To date, they are training me in the FA-AA, which is the fire assay atomic absorption instrument. I’m really enjoying it, there’s lots of things to learn and remember but physically it is an easy job. I still have the energy to cook food once it get home, clean the house and help kids go to bed. My Trainer, Sahar, said that they are looking to train me as well in ICP-OES or ICP Ms, which is another instrument but more complicated to operate.
My supervisor at ALS has already put me in to Diploma of Laboratory Technology course with LTT too. I’ve already told all my friends to do this course!

I have completed a Masters in Human Resources and was working with a top recruitment company in India. Previously I have been involved in administration and business. I moved to Australia in 2020 and completed a Cert IV in Nursing. My partner found LTT Perth for me, I’m so thankful he suggested I joined.
The Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course and Trainers are very good. I had Steve and Sahar as both of my trainers. Steve taught me everything I needed to know, and the correct way to do practicals. He is very polite and cooperative. Sahar is very nice too, she taught me the steps I needed for all the lab work. I had previous knowledge of maths but not a lot of science, with the trainers help it wasn’t very difficult.
I enjoyed the practicals the most. I enjoyed working on solutions and learning how to use the spectrophotometer.
In block two I decided to start applying for jobs. I had a few calls and offers for interviews. I decided to go with ALS who offered me part-time work while I finish the rest of my training with LTT. ALS are awesome, they are teaching me a lot. I’m learning more and more. This is a very new field that I’m joining, I’m very excited by it.
This course went above my expectations. The trainers made it easy for us, I recommend everyone do this course!
