I worked mainly in the hospitality industry prior to enrolling in the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course. I had also worked in childcare. I had never considered enrolling in a science-based course.

A friend recommended LTT Perth to me as she had studied phlebotomy through them.

I chose to study with LTT as the government rebate on the course was too big of an opportunity to pass up. I had been looking for work for over a year with no success. So I thought having another valuable qualification would help my search.

My training was difficult at times as I had been out of school for a few years. However, having such an understanding trainer was great. Always felt like you could ask questions and could go back through material to get a better understanding. Working hands on in the lab was so much fun and so interesting.

My favourite part of the course was working in the lab, putting into practice what we had been learning. As well as making some awesome friends along the way.

I have since secured a full time position through LTT working for Clinipath, its absolutely the best job I’ve had. I work in the SRA department, which is Specimen Reception. So far they have trained me to ’SRA’ all kinds of specimens. I am expected to maintain complete patient confidentiality.

In specimen reception you receive the specimen and the request form, it would have been collected either by a collector or a doctor. You then check the name and DOB match on both and the barcode, or you assign a barcode to it. You enter all the information into the system at your desk. Then put the specimen into the right rack or tray for collection by all the different departments at the lab. I have also been on many courier runs to and from the airport, such as collecting COVID-19 tests from up north. It’s been such an interesting job so far and excited to see where it takes me as I’m sure there will be many opportunities to learn new skills within my role.

I was working in accounts for local government. I was ready for a change to started searching online for training options. I have a bachelor’s in animal science.

I chose to study with LTT Perth as they offer a 23-week course. When I came down to an info session, that’s what changed my mind. I decided I would be enrolling in the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques!

My training experience was very good, Sahar is great! The course was interesting and easy to learn.

I have secured a full-time job with Vetpath as a lab technician. They offer pathology services to vets throughout WA. I have been working with them for a month and it has been really good. LTT gave me the foundation skills to enter this field confidently. I’ve started with microbiology and cytology to start off with and then as I go further, they’ll teach me more.

This course is so worth it, Sahar teaching techniques are fantastic. The practical side of it was really good fun.

I completed a Certificate IV in Accounting last year and didn’t result in any work. I’ve always been interested in laboratories and chemistry. I wasn’t sure if I could do it.

I have a science background and a Biotechnology qualification that I studied in India. I gained experienced in the industry for just one year with a medical device manufacturing company in India. They also make rapid diagnostic kits. I worked in a junior role in the research department.

I moved to Australia in 2018 and have been working in customer service and warehouse roles. I have always wanted to get back into the laboratory environment and search for job satisfaction. I noticed lab job advertisements were often looking for people with the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques qualification.

I decided to study the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course with LTT as they offer a shorter course compared to other providers. The course is really good, I tell everyone they should study this course. I have had so many opportunities after this course, I have received a call from every company I have submitted a resume to. Previously I wouldn’t even hear back! I am currently deciding between two job offers! I am leaning towards the Quality Assurance Officer role with PepsiCo as this would be a food science technician role, which is closer to what I was doing back home. I would like to end up working in the medical or pathology field.

I really liked working with microscopes, being able to see the cells under the microscope was really cool. Sahar is a very helpful trainer. I asked her so many questions and she was so patient. She is so calm and explained things in simple terms so we can understand.

I’m currently at Murdoch uni studying a bachelor’s in biomedical science, I just have one semester left. At uni we analyse this, analyse that. Whereas at LTT we learnt how to calibrate, how to operate the machines, and actual rules in the lab. At uni they have lab techs set up the equipment for the students. Now I know how to do it!

They explained how the course works, and how you can work your way up in the lab. I chose to study with LTT because it was only 23 weeks and to complement my degree. The course was really good and really helpful. It was more hands on than my degree.

My favourite part of the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was the lab work. It was really good. It gave me a different perspective; I find that at uni you are quite independent, whereas LTT provide a guideline. This course made it apparent that if I wanted to work in a lab, I can start as a lab tech or lab assistant and work my way up with my degree.

Ultimately, I would like to work in the pathology lab industry. Sahar is amazing! She explains everything, she teaches you the proper way to do things, as well as alternative methods. If you get stuck, she gives you another way to try and solve the problem. I liked the whole course, it was great.

I am currently working with SGS and have 10 years’ experience working in labs. I have two young kids, one who is selective mute. I have also completed my Certificate IV in Community Service and worked as a Youth Worker for two years. I have also managed and worked a takeaway shop for three years.

I studied the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills through my employer, SGS. I wanted to expand my knowledge for the job and be able to move up in the company. My training was good and I learnt a lot of different things. My favourite part of the course was all the safety components. Previously I’ve studied chemical engineering and was struggling to get job in technical areas so I decided to study a course and searched for different courses and decided to do laboratory which is related to chemical engineering so that I can relate my previous knowledge and experience.

I choose LTT because it takes short time to study the course than other providers. Training at LTT is extremely wonderful with full access to laboratory equipment and chemicals. All the theory and practical parts were great. My favourite part was when we used UV spectroscopy to determine concentration of a sample of unknown concentration.

Now I want to focus on further study in the laboratory. I’m going to use my qualification as a foundation to study a bachelor’s degree in two years.
