Denise
I was a registered nurse for over 30 years. I had not worked for over 5 years because of illness and decided to return to work once I felt well enough. I thought the AE218 COVID-19 Collection skill set training would help me re-enter the workforce.
I heard about LTT through the Armadale Job and Skills Centre. The 3-day skill set was great! It was very interesting and gave me confidence in being able to work again. Studying with a group was very supportive. I’m now looking for part time work in the health industry.

I have prior work experience as an assistant nurse and personal carer working as an agency AIN and in an aged care setting.
I enrolled with LTT Brisbane after reading the reviews from people from different work backgrounds and how they were satisfied with the course. The reviews said it was a great course to get all the knowledge and experience to work in the pathology field.
I found my training experience of the Certificate III in Pathology Collection to be second to none. I appreciate the trainer I had during my time with LTT. I am very thankful for how she shared with us all her knowledge and experience making it a great course experience. My favourite part of the course was the hands-on training of blood collection.
Now that I’m finished training, I would like to get a job that will be able to provide me with the flexibility of life and work balance, in the field of phlebotomy.

I completed the Certificate III in Pathology Collection course at LTT Brisbane in 2015, and it has been the best decision of my life.
The course fully prepared me for a brilliant career from collection clinics, to on road collections and finally my dream of working in a hospital. I’m now a team leader, working in ICU emergency. I work with mothers and babies, and perform blood collection, blood gases, cannulation and MET calls.
Thank you LTT!

came from Philippines with a business administration background. I graduated with a major in banking and payments but worked in a social work job. After moving to Australia, I was looking for a job that would allow me to have a balance between work and family as I have two young kids.
I have been contemplating this lab course at LTT Perth for a few years. Now my youngest is at kindy, I have had the time to commit to studying! It’s the right time for me.
I’ve always liked physics and I don’t mind maths. The Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was really good. There are bits that are hard, but with the help of the Trainers it’s not too bad. It was a fun experience for me. We had a smaller group which made it a great environment for learning. Working in a laboratory was new for me, the practicals were actually fun and there was nothing to be afraid of.
I’ve now got a job at ALS Geochemistry in Malaga as Senior Laboratory Assistant for carbon/sulphur analysis and chromatography. I actually started the job 3 days before our graduation day. To date, they are training me in the FA-AA, which is the fire assay atomic absorption instrument. I’m really enjoying it, there’s lots of things to learn and remember but physically it is an easy job. I still have the energy to cook food once it get home, clean the house and help kids go to bed. My Trainer, Sahar, said that they are looking to train me as well in ICP-OES or ICP Ms, which is another instrument but more complicated to operate.
My supervisor at ALS has already put me in to Diploma of Laboratory Technology course with LTT too. I’ve already told all my friends to do this course!

My background is quite varied, I have been a chef and a remedial massage therapist. However I’ve always been really interested in science and geology. I found LTT’s website after searching online. I didn’t want to do a 5-year chemistry degree at university, and noticed that LTT Perth’s Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was only 6 months.
I really enjoyed this course; it gave me everything I was looking for in terms of maths and a scientific point of view. Before enrolling in this course, I couldn’t do divisions. Since doing this course I have gone from basic maths to completing complex calculations in the lab. It was a bit scary for me at the beginning but Sahar, our trainer, and she was so helpful and patient.
I enjoyed the practical laboratory experience, especially getting confident working with mineral acids. We performed mineral analysis which I really loved.
Since finishing the course, I have had a few interviews with laboratories. I have just accepted a fire assay role with ALS!

I work in the road construction industry, and my employer enrolled me in the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course with LTT Melbourne. My trainer, Gavan Canavan, was very helpful and has helped me to improve myself. I’m now focusing on improving my position in the workplace.
