About
This qualification is delivered by LTT Group Pty Ltd (RTO 51621) and equips students with practical skills in planning and conducting laboratory field work, recording and presenting data, performing basic tests and standard calibrations, maintaining a laboratory and more. The course focuses on safety and aims to prepare students for entry level laboratory jobs.

Duration, Location & Delivery
- Approximately 12 months
Our training is competency based, and qualifications can be completed at a pace that suits the organisation and the individual. Training is delivered on-site in the workplace. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer processes are available for eligible students.
Fees
Course fees depend on individual eligibility for government support. If you are unsure whether you qualify for a government supported training place, please contact our team on 1300 588 588. Credit transfers may reduce the course fee payable.
For students eligible for government support
- $2,350 – student tuition fee
This qualification is funded by the Government of South Australia for students who meet the eligibility criteria under the Skills SA program (for traineeship delivery).

A traineeship is the time spent learning a job (or vocation) under a formal training contract with the employer. In most cases, a new entrant / new worker traineeship involves an employee who has been with the company for less than three months full-time or 12 months part-time or casual.
In most cases, an existing worker traineeship includes an employee who has been with the company for more than three months full-time or 12 months part-time or casual.
Eligibility is calculated on a case-by-case basis for individual employees. We will liaise on behalf of the employer with the relevant Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (ACAP) to determine eligibility.

Requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:
- hold a Diploma of Laboratory Technology
OR
- hold a Diploma or higher-level qualification in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline
OR
- can provide evidence of technical laboratory and managerial or supervisory skills, knowledge and employment experience.
Content/Units
There are 10 total units of competency in this qualification.
6 core units:
- MSL946003 Implement and monitor WHS and environmental management systems
- MSL916011 Develop and maintain laboratory documentation
- MSL916014 Maintain registration and statutory or legal compliance in work or functional area
- MSL936005 Maintain quality system and continuous improvement processes within work or functional area
- MSL916013 Supervise laboratory operations in work or functional area
- MSL916012 Manage and develop teams
4 elective units:
- MSL976006 Evaluate and select appropriate test methods and/or procedures
- MSL936006 Conduct an internal audit of the quality system
- MSL915004 Schedule laboratory work for a small team
- MSL916015 Manage complex projects
