About

This qualification is delivered by LTT Group Pty Ltd (RTO 51621) and equips students with practical skills in planning and conducting laboratory field work, recording and presenting data, performing basic tests and standard calibrations, maintaining a laboratory and more. The course focuses on safety and aims to prepare students for entry level laboratory jobs.

Duration, Location & Delivery

  • Approximately 12-36 months

Our training is competency based, and qualifications can be completed at a pace that suits the organisation and the individual. Training is delivered on-site in the workplace. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer processes are available for eligible students

Fees

Course fees depend on individual eligibility for government support. If you are unsure whether you qualify for a government supported training place, please contact our team on 1300 588 588. Credit transfers may reduce the course fee payable.

For students eligible for government support

  • $2,186 to $2,888 – student tuition fee range, dependent on specialisation

This qualification is funded by the Government of South Australia for students who meet the eligibility criteria under the Skills SA program (for traineeship delivery).

A traineeship is the time spent learning a job (or vocation) under a formal training contract with the employer. In most cases, a new entrant / new worker traineeship involves an employee who has been with the company for less than three months full-time or 12 months part-time or casual.

In most cases, an existing worker traineeship includes an employee who has been with the company for more than three months full-time or 12 months part-time or casual.

Eligibility is calculated on a case-by-case basis for individual employees. We will liaise on behalf of the employer with the relevant Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (ACAP) to determine eligibility.

Upfront Assessment of Needs

Where an individual is assessed as eligibility subsidised training, an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN) will be conducted to determine any aspects that might impact a successful outcome and the appropriate support a participant may need during their training, including:
  • Suitability – to ensure the right fit between the learner and qualification of choice.
  • Support needs – to ensure early identification and planning for the learners learning and personal support needs.
  • Literacy and numeracy capabilities – To ensure early identification and planning for the learners literacy and numeracy development needs.

Support Services

LTT is committed to ensuring that all students receive adequate learning support to ensure their full potential is
reached. Therefore, LTT ensures that:
  • The learning and support needs of all students is assessed prior to commencement of their course, and
  • All students are aware of how to access the services they require to successfully complete their course.
All students are provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency. These include:
  • Mentoring from appropriately qualified Trainer/Assessors including their email contact details.
  • Classes, tutorials and workshops – these may be optional depending on the student’s course of study.
  • Work placement assistance for those participating in courses that require practical placement.
  • Computer and technology support.

There are 16 total units of competency in this qualification.

4 core units:

  • MSL944002 Maintain laboratory or field workplace safety
  • MSL934008 Maintain instruments and equipment
  • MSL924005 Process and interpret data
  • MSL934009 Apply quality system and continuous improvement processes

12 elective units:

  • Dependent on stream – please see below
