Protection for education and jobs in response to COVID-19

Australia’s Federal, State and Territory Governments have announced a number of new policies to support the economy throughout the COVID-19 crisis.

  • A $1.3 billion support package will aim to keep almost 120,000 apprentices/trainees employed. The package will include up to $21,000 per small business apprentice to help employers keep these people in work.

  • In WA, a new recruitment drive to boost the health workforce has been announced.

  • IN ACT, a $137 million stimulus package will target vulnerable households and small businesses in Canberra

  • In NSW, a stimulus package has been created to help protect communities and jobs, strengthening the health system and help to secure jobs challenging times.

  • In QLD, a $500 million loan facility has been announced, which is interest free for the first 12 months, to support businesses and keep Queenslanders in work.

  • In VIC, the Victorian government is working on a package that will help people and businesses.

  • In NT, a $60 million stimulus package is aimed at saving people’s jobs.

  • In TAS, a $420 million support package will provide additional support to the public sector and targeted assistance to our businesses and workforce to keep Tasmanians in jobs.
