The course is designed to provide in-depth insight into the industry and focuses on promoting methodological competence, preparing students for technical jobs as laboratory personnel, including laboratory technicians, technical assistants, and more.

Course fees depend on individual eligibility for government support. If you are unsure whether you qualify for a government supported training place, please contact our team on 1300 588 588. Credit transfers may reduce the course fee payable.

For students eligible for government support

The MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques is funded by the Queensland Government for students who meet the eligibility criteria under the Higher Level Skills program.

  • $650 - concession student co-contribution fee, payable upon enrolment

  • $750 - non-concession student co-contribution fee, payable upon enrolment

Co-contribution fees represent the total cost to the student to enrol in, undertake training, and be awarded the qualification. Students will no longer be eligible for a government subsidised training place under the Higher Level Skills program once they complete a certificate IV or higher level qualification.

For students not eligible for government support

  • $6,750 - fee for service student tuition fee

To secure your place in class, a $400 deposit is payable upon enrolment (cash and EFT facilities are available). This amount is deducted from the total course fee. Fortnightly direct debit payment plans are available to distribute payments of the remaining balance ($6,350) over a 20 week period (10 x fortnightly payments of $635).

Our refund policy can be viewed here.

Students are assessed on their performance in practical and written assessments.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer processes are available for eligible students. Please contact our team on 1300 588 588 to discuss these options further if you believe you may be eligible for RPL or credit transfer (for equivalent units of competency completed previously). A copy of the original transcript must be provided if applying for a credit transfer.

Should you withdraw before completing the course and / or your clinical work placement hours, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any units of competency achieved.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, which will carry the Nationally Recognised Training logo.

No prior qualifications are required to study the MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques. While there are no formal entry requirements for the course, a general interest in mathematics and chemistry is recommended, and basic computer literacy is advantageous.
